There is enough information for the reader to get an idea of the featured dinosaurs and the signature, zany humor that comes with a work written in Dr. Seuss' world. View 2 comments. They also loved the pictures of all of the dinosaurs especially when the T-Rex showed up. They dig up bones and talk about how huge they are. Then they go to a museum and show them a whole bunch of different types of dinosaurs. The Cat in the Hat has all of the dinosaurs names. Have fun trying to pronounce their names. The Cat in the Hat is the main character on this book. He also is the one that is saying the bubbles on the pages.
Sally is the little girl in this book, and she is always with the Dick. Dick is the boy in this book, and he is always doing weird things on the pages with the dinosaurs. After that they went to a museum. They went into different room each containing a new animals.
Audience I would recommend this book to kids five and under. Most little kids will love this book and think it is super funny. Kids above five might think the book is for little kids and think it is dumb or boring. View 1 comment. Nov 08, Zoe Lampman rated it liked it Shelves: picture-books.
This is an informative book about dinosaur names, fossils, putting fossils together to create skeletons, and visiting dinosaur museums all written in rhymes and accompanied by silly illustrations. It helps students say dinosaur names such as Brachiosaurus by breaking the word down into individual sounds.
A teacher could read this aloud to first or second graders and have them try saying the new words. This would be an especially good book to read if the students are learning about dinosaurs in science. Another fun and informative book from the Dr Seuss library. This one is about dinosaurs and manages to help phonetic readers learn to say the names of the dinosaurs as well as maintain the rhythm and rhyme of traditional dr Seuss books.

I had never read a faux-Dr. Seuss book before that was informational not just silly. However, I appreciated that while the book had nonfiction components, it was rhyming and upbeat. The book not only talked about many kinds of dinosaurs, what they looked like, but also how to pronounce their names. This was an important part of the book because a student who was reading this book by themselves would still be able to attempt to sound out the names of the dinosaurs.
I love when a book takes a topic kids are interested in and presents the information in an engaging way. In my classroom I would use this book to talk about dinosaurs, nonfiction books, rhyming, or how authors can write books that are similar but have different components. I might even read this book in addition to another Dr.
Seuss book and have them compare the two. I hope to add this book to my Dr. Seuss collection soon. Apr 30, Cara Noles rated it it was amazing Shelves: rdngdr-smith. Cat in the Hat runs through everything a kid needs to know about dinosaurs. Dinosaurs lived millions of years ago, but now we can put them back together by their bones. The book goes through many dinosaurs names, breaks down how to say them, and gives details about the type of dinosaur. I like this educational book about dinosaurs, and learns some information on different types of dinosaurs.
It is an easy read for children, and I am sure they would enjoy hearing about dinosaurs. I really loved t Cat in the Hat runs through everything a kid needs to know about dinosaurs. I really loved the colorful drawings on each page. I would use this in my classroom to talk about syllables. Dinosaur names are usually very hard to pronounce, and this book breaks the words up.
It breaks up Ankylosaurus into Ang-kih-luh-saw-rus. I would talk about the method of clapping for each syllable or putting you hand under your chin to know how many syllables are in a word.
